    USB Device problems

I have recently had problems when I plug new USB Devices into my Sony Vaio Laptop with Vista Premium. When I plug them in, it installs the software and the little bubble appears bottom right saying my device is ready to use. However, the autoplay box does not appear and in my computer the USB device is not there. I have only recently had this problem. Old USB devices which I installed ages ago such as my 8gd Sandisk USB pen still work fine. But absolutely nothing else will work when I plug it in. I have read in other forums of work arounds to solve this problem but I do not know how to do what they say to do, so if someone could please give me a detailed method of how to resolve the issue that would be amazing. This is quite urgent photos I have taken for my masters thesis which I cannot access as the camera uses compact flash and i do not have a slot on my laptop of CF cards.

    Thanks, Ben
